Wiltshire Council Committees (current): Corsham Area Board (CAB) Chair, CAB LYFIG (Transport) Chair, CAB Business Lead, Licensing,  

County Wide Committees (current, although has served on others previously): Overview & Scrutiny Management (member of numerous Task Groups/ Rapid Scrutiny Committees many as Chair), Standards Committee (Chair of Codes of Conduct Task Group)), Standards Assessment Sub Committee (Chair), Northern Area Planning (Substitute), Strategic Planning (Substitute).   Term of Office: since May 2017

Town Council Committees: Finance & Admin (Chair), Planning, Neighbourhood Plan Delivery, Town Team (Railway Station), MOD Liaison, BSU Liaison, Sports Forum (Chair), Corsham in Bloom (Chair), Public Arts.  Term of Office: since May 2007

Having graduated from Southampton with a degree in Politics, Ruth went on to have a varied career, some of which were in senior position, including: Retail Management, Health Services Management, Facilities Management, School Business Management, Full time carer for a series of elderly relatives, stay at home Mum.   2 diplomas gathered en route.

Ruth has been in been involved in community activities for well over 20 years as: School Governor of a local primary school (including 5 years as Chair & recipient of a National Teaching award “Governor of the Year” 2006), Guider (16 years as a Brownie Leader), Chair of Corsham Hockey Club, Corsham Sponsors Refugees, plus many others. 

Having been elected to Corsham Town Council Ruth has been Chair of all of the committees (at different times), Vice-Chair of the Council for 3 years (2 separate tenures), Chair of the Council (5 years), has been involved with most of the initiatives in the last 15 years.

Currently Ruth is a Trustee of 2 local charities.

Ruth’s passion is community, making sure that people, especially young people, have the opportunity to reach their full potential. This passion is underscored by her Liberal Democrat beliefs. Her key skills are operational management & nagging/ persuasion until people do the right thing.
